Homewood
Locals are adamant that the “West Shore is the Best Shore” and for good reason. The West Shore of Lake Tahoe offers a more relaxed feeling reminiscent of “Old Tahoe”. Private and public beaches and piers dot the shoreline and quaint restaurants and shops line Highway 89 south from Tahoe City. A favorite wintertime activity – in addition to skiing at nearby Homewood Ski Resort – is watching the storms roll in off of the lake.
The neighborhoods that comprise the Homewood area of the West shore are as diverse as its’ full and part time residents. Skyland is a very nice area with moderate to large-sized lots and spacious homes – some with lake views, beach association and pier privileges – and others are nestled amongst the pines. Some areas of Tahoe Pines are secluded and woodsy. All have access to a beautiful sandy beach and pier next to the Fleur du Lac condos, home of the former Kaiser estate. These spectacular high end condominiums are large and fantastic amenities including their own harbor with boat slips for each condominium.
Homes in the Tahoe Swiss Village subdivision and Homewood are desirable because they are close to the ski area, marina, restaurants and shopping. Year-round residents and long-time second homeowners enjoy their small gated beach, lakefront homes and properties in the woods.
